Most of the websites where you can find information about the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria are run by former officials or militants. Some of the portals listed below are subject to restrictive measures in some countries of the world due to their content considered “extremist”. The editorial staff condemns any incitement to violence or political and religious intolerance.

1 – POLITICAL MONITORING BY TIMUR MUZAEV

The most interesting portal about the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria is not among the “political” sites we talked about in the introduction. In this case, it is the site of the International Institute for Humanitarian Policy Research, and specifically the “Political Monitoring” section, which hosts a series of very detailed and interesting articles and contributions. The richest among these are the “updates” by journalist Timur Muzaev, from which it is possible to deduce the ChRI’s news in a very precise and timely manner.

The government news agency of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria during Maskhadov’s government, after his death it remained the main press organ of his representatives in exile. It is based in England, and is currently aligned with the positions of Akhmed Zakayev. The site publishes the official statements of some ChRI exponents and contains informative material of historical interest.

3 – CHECHEN GOVERNMENT

A site that defines itself as the official organ of the Chechen government in exile, it represents the position of the President of the Parliament of the first convocation and representative of the Parliament of the second convocation in Europe, Akhyad Idigov. The site publishes numerous documents of historical interest and some interesting political dissertations.

4 – KAVKAZCENTER

A press agency established in March 1999 by Movladi Ugudov, it is the media drum of the radical wing of Islamism in the Caucasus. Over the years, its relations with the authorities of the ChRI have become more complicated due to the media support given by Kavkazcenter to particularly brutal and cruel actions carried out by some fringes of the Chechen resistance. Also for this reason, the Russian Federation has imposed the blackout of the site on the national internet space, in compliance with the provisions of the law against extremist and terrorist-supporting press. Today it represents the position of the Islamic Emirate of the North Caucasus, but in its online archive it is possible to collect information of historical interest on the ChRI.

5 – WAYNAKH

A website of the Chechen diaspora in Turkey, it was founded in 2002 and since then it has published material and insights on the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and keeps its readers informed about the statements and initiatives of the main spokesmen of Chechen separatism. It contains interviews, historical and current affairs dossiers and an interesting section on the Chechen language and phonetics. Waynakh Online recognizes the ChRI as the legitimate government in Chechnya, and the Parliament elected in 1997 as the only legislative assembly.

Information site about Chechnya and the Chechen diaspora around the world, it hosts interviews and statements by former ChRI officials, communications and appeals by the government in exile, as well as sections of historical interest, such as the one concerning the foreign policy of the republic, with archive photos, films and reports of the official visits of presidents Dudaev and Maskhadov, and of the plenipotentiary representatives of the republic abroad.

The site describes itself as an “independent news agency,” and frequently publishes statements from exiled government officials and in-depth historical articles.

8- KULTURVEREIN ICHKERIA

The site of the Chechen diaspora in Austria, it is the online terminal of the cultural association “Kulturverein Ichkeria”, led by former Colonel of the Armed Forces of the ChRI Hussein Iskhanov. In addition to hosting reports of the activities carried out by the association, the site provides a lot of information of historical interest.

10 – CAUCASIAN NODE

Caucasian information portal, publishes current affairs articles and historical insights. In the “Chechnya” section you can find many articles about the ChRI, many of its officials and insights into major historical events.

11 – PRAGUE WATCHDOG

The site is the online portal of the non-governmental association of the same name based in Prague, active in the field of conflicts in the Northern Caucasus. In June 2010 it suspended publications, leaving its rich archive of interventions, dossiers and reports available to Internet users.

12 – KAVKAZ REALITY

Information portal belonging to the Radio Liberty circuit, one of the most active and reliable newspapers regarding the Russian-Chechen conflicts, it mainly publishes investigative material, but among its reports it is possible to find interviews, insights and references to facts and people of historical interest regarding the ChRI.

13 – WARCHECHNYA.RU

Portal opened in 2009 by veterans of the two Chechen wars. It focuses on the two Russian-Chechen conflicts, and offers a large amount of photographic and video material on military operations during the two conflicts, as well as insights into political and military issues.
