Documented circumstances

According to Memorial’s 1995 investigation, Chirban Makhmudov sustained a fragment wound to the chest during shelling on 7 or 8 April 1995. He survived the initial injury but subsequently died of its effects on 25 April. The report records evidence provided by a fellow resident and a hospital-list entry.

Entry 56 is broken across two lines in the digitised copy of Appendix 3, with part of the name and date appearing on the following line. Memorial’s separate discussion of shelling casualties in section 9 independently confirms the name Chirban Makhmudov, the approximate injury date and the death on 25 April. This cross-check resolves the main reading difficulty but does not add a precise time of injury or identify the firing unit.
